VinFast are all set to officially enter the Indian market with the launch of their first 2 electric SUVs, the VinFast VF6 and VF7, on September 6, 2025. VinFast have been preparing for their India debut for a while, having recently started production at their new manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu plant is VinFast’s third global factory and their first outside of Vietnam. The facility has an initial production capacity of 50,000 units per year, with plans to expand it to 1 million vehicles annually by 2030.
Meanwhile, VinFast are currently accepting bookings for both the VF6 and VF7 for a token amount of Rs. 21,000. Let’s take a quick look at the 2 electric SUVs:
At launch, the VF6 will be VinFast’s most affordable offering in India. It will compete in the electric C-SUV segment, taking on rivals like the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv EV.

The VinFast VF7 will be launched alongside the VF6. It is a larger, more aggressive-looking SUV positioned to compete with premium electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the BMW iX1 LWB.

The VinFast VF6 is expected to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 23 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in direct competition with the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv EV.
The VinFast VF7 will be positioned one segment higher with an expected price of Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 28 lakh (ex-showroom), where it will compete with the BYD Atto 3, Mahindra BE 6 and the XEV 9e.
