VinFast To Launch VF6, VF7 Electric SUVs On September 6 | V3Cars

VinFast are all set to officially enter the Indian market with the launch of their first 2 electric SUVs, the VinFast VF6 and VF7, on September 6, 2025. VinFast have been preparing for their India debut for a while, having recently started production at their new manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

VinFast VF6 And VF7 Launch Confirmed For September 6

The Tamil Nadu plant is VinFast’s third global factory and their first outside of Vietnam. The facility has an initial production capacity of 50,000 units per year, with plans to expand it to 1 million vehicles annually by 2030. 

Meanwhile, VinFast are currently accepting bookings for both the VF6 and VF7 for a token amount of Rs. 21,000. Let’s take a quick look at the 2 electric SUVs:

2025 VinFast VF6 Features And Specifications

At launch, the VF6 will be VinFast’s most affordable offering in India. It will compete in the electric C-SUV segment, taking on rivals like the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv EV.

  • Battery and Range: VinFast will offer the India-spec VF6 with a 59.6kWh battery pack, which is expected to offer a claimed range of 410km for the Eco variant.
  • Powertrain: Powered by an electric motor mounted at the front axle, the Eco variant produces 177PS of power while the Power variant delivers 204PS of power.
  • Design: The exterior features eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, a sleek body, and thick body cladding for a rugged look. The interior has a dual-tone theme with a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

VinFast VF7 Features And Specifications

The VinFast VF7 will be launched alongside the VF6. It is a larger, more aggressive-looking SUV positioned to compete with premium electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the BMW iX1 LWB.

  • Battery and Powertrain: The India-spec VF7 will come with a 70.8kWh battery pack. It will be available in 2 variants: a FWD version with a single motor producing 201PS and an All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) version with 2 motors producing a combined 354PS and 520Nm of torque.
  • Performance: The AWD variant is capable of a 0-100kmph sprint in just 5.8 seconds.
  • Design and Interior: The VF7 has a more aggressive design with sharp cuts and creases. The interior features a dual-tone theme with premium leatherette materials, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic glass roof.

Expected Price And Rivals

The VinFast VF6 is expected to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 23 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in direct competition with the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric and the Tata Curvv EV.

The VinFast VF7 will be positioned one segment higher with an expected price of Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 28 lakh (ex-showroom), where it will compete with the BYD Atto 3, Mahindra BE 6 and the XEV 9e.
