Volkswagen India recently started accepting bookings for the Taigun SUV. the carmaker also confirmed that the prices of the Taigun will be official sometime in the third week of September, 2021. We expect the deliveries to start on October 7 along with the Navratri festival.
The VW Taigun is a C-segment mid-size SUV that goes up against the massively popular Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The Taigun shares its platform with the Skoda Kushaq, and will also share the powertrains and transmission options with the sibling. So, you’ll get a 1.0-litre and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol. Besides a 6-speed manual, the smaller petrol engine will get a 6-speed toqrue converter automatic. The bigger engine will get a faster 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual.
The Taigun’s ground clearance is acceptable but not spectacular and rated at 188mm. Just like the Kushaq, the Tiagun is also a smaller car than the rest of the C-segment SUVs like the Certa, Seltos, Duster and Kicks.
