Volkswagen Reveal India-Spec Tayron R-Line Ahead Of Q1 2026 Launch | V3Cars
Volkswagen India have officially revealed the India-spec Tayron R-Line, offering the clearest look yet at the brand’s upcoming flagship SUV for the Indian market. The image reveal comes just a week after Volkswagen confirmed that the Tayron R-Line will be launched in the first quarter of 2026.
Set to be positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron marks Volkswagen’s return to the premium 3-row SUV segment after the Tiguan Allspace was discontinued. The Tayron R-Line will be brought to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route, which should keep its prices competitive compared to a full import.
VW Tayron R-Line Exterior Design Highlights
The India-spec Tayron R-Line closely mirrors the global model, featuring a sporty yet premium design. Up front, the SUV gets full-LED headlamps, a sleek LED light bar and an illuminated Volkswagen logo, instantly setting it apart as a flagship offering. The R-Line treatment adds sportier bumper elements and distinctive badging.

From the side, the Tayron’s longer wheelbase compared to the Tiguan is evident, which should translate into improved 3rd-row space. The SUV rides on 19-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps, an illuminated VW logo and a roof-mounted spoiler complete the premium look.
Interior, Features And Practicality
While Volkswagen haven’t revealed every detail yet, the India-spec Tayron R-Line is expected to offer a tech-loaded cabin. Highlights are likely to include a large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof and multi-colour ambient lighting.

Premium features such as ventilated front seats with massage function, matrix LED headlamps and a spacious boot – especially with the 3rd row folded – will position the Tayron as a luxury-focused family SUV.
Engine, Drivetrain And Safety
The Tayron R-Line is expected to share its powertrain with the Tiguan R-Line. This means a 2L turbo-petrol engine producing around 204PS and 320Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic. An all-wheel-drive system is also expected to be offered as standard. The global model has already achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, which bodes well for the India-spec SUV.
Launch Timeline, Expected Price And Rivals
Volkswagen have confirmed that the Tayron R-Line will be launched in Q1 2026, making it one of the brand’s most important launches for the year. With the Tayron positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, we expect prices to fall in the range of Rs. 46 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once launched, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will compete with SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and Toyota Fortuner.
