Volkswagen India have teased the upcoming Tayron SUV for the first time. Essentially a 3-row version of the Tiguan, the Tayron is expected to launch in the first half of 2026. We expect Volkswagen to release more teasers in the coming weeks. In this article, we take a look at all the details revealed by the latest teasers.

The first teaser released by Volkswagen shows an SUV covered by a white cloth showing off its lighting signature at the front and rear. The silhouette of the SUV and the shape of the LED lights confirm it to be the Tayron.
Here’s what the Tayron looks like in global markets:

Since Volkswagen will be launching the Tayron via the completely knocked down (CKD) route, we expect the India-spec SUV to look similar to the global model. Up front, the Tayron will offer a fascia similar to the Tiguan R-Line. The teaser reveals highlights such as full-LED lighting with an LED light bar and an illuminated logo.
Around the side, the Tayron shares a similar silhouette as the Tiguan R-Line. However, the Tayron is clearly longer, which should help it offer better road presence. Expect alloy wheels ranging from 17-inch to 19-inch in size. Moving towards the rear, the offers connected LED tail lamps along with an illuminated logo. It also offers an integrated roof spoiler, a faux skid plate and black cladding.

While Volkswagen are yet to confirm the exact powertrain options for the India-spec Tayron, we expect it to offer the same engine and transmission as the Tiguan R-Line. So expect a 2L turbo petrol engine churning out 204PS of power and 320Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). We also expect VW to offer all-wheel drive as standard.

We expect the Tayron to launch in the first half of 2026. The Tayron is likely to be positioned just above the Tiguan R-Line, so expect prices to range from Rs. 46 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the Tayron will compete against the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and the Toyota Fortuner.
