The Volvo S90 premium sedan is no longer available for sale in India. Volvo India has removed the S90 from its official price list, signaling that the luxury sedan is now discontinued in the country. This move means that Volvo’s current lineup in India now consists entirely of SUVs, marking a clear strategic shift for the brand.

The Volvo S90 facelift was launched in India in October 2021. It was known for its elegant design, comfortable interior and strong focus on safety, a hallmark of the Volvo brand.
While the S90 was a well-appointed car, it faced stiff competition. With newer generations of rivals like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series offering updated technology and powertrain options, the S90 was somewhat left behind. As a result, its sales numbers were low.
Globally, Volvo have updated the S90 with a second facelift (in April 2025), which includes revised design elements, a larger touchscreen with new technology, and updated mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. Volvo also recently revealed an all-electric version called the ES90 in March 2025.
However, there has been no indication from Volvo India that either the updated S90 facelift or its all-electric sibling, the ES90, will be launched in the Indian market.
Instead, Volvo’s strategy in India is clearly shifting towards its SUV and electric SUVs. The company is preparing to launch the all-electric EX30 SUV in India by the end of 2025, and is even considering local assembly for it. This will be followed by the flagship EX90 all-electric SUV sometime next year.
