What Are The Features Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Sigma Variant?

The Ciaz Sigma variant costs Rs. 8.32 lakh (ex-showroom) and offers enough features to cover the bases. It should satisfy most Ciaz buyers looking for a big sedan on a tight budget. Notable features include:

    • 2 front airbags
    • ABS
    • Halogen projector headlamps
    • Rear defogger
    • Rear parking sensors
    • Manual day/night inside mirror
    • Music system
    • Bluetooth/Aux/USB connectivity
    • Steering mounted controls
    • Front and rear power windows
    • Electrically-adjustable outside mirrors
    • Tilt steering
    • Rear AC vents
    • Flippy key with central locking
    • Front and rear armrest
    • 15-inch steel wheels with wheel covers

This variant is a fantastic starting point but those upgrading from a feature-rich hatchback would expect similarly rich experience should consider upgrading to the Delta variant. It is the most value for money variant of the Ciaz.

What Are The Features Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Delta Variant?

The Delta variant of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz costs Rs. 8.94 lakh, which is about Rs. 62,000 more than the Sigma. For that sum, this variant easily justifies the upgrade considering the features it adds. However, some of you may not find these features all that useful. For example, cruise control is one that you may not use very often but is an expensive feature considering that you can’t get it installed with a similar finish post-purchase. While cruising on flat, straight highways, though, it can prove its worth as it allows you to relax your right foot. So, the Delta variant is the most value for money variant you can buy in the Ciaz lineup but it may not be for everyone. If you can live without the other features of the Delta variant like automatic AC, alloy wheels, etc., then consider getting the Sigma variant. If you find automatic AC, cruise control and alloy wheels useful, then you’ll be glad to know that the Delta variant offers the best value for money. More importantly, the upgrade to the Zeta variant is quite high considering that it adds mostly feel-good features.

It’s a similar story with the Delta automatic. It costs Rs. 9.98 lakh, which is Rs. 1.04 lakh more than the Delta manual. It gets a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a couple of extra safety features - ESP and hill-start assist. The asking price is again very reasonable for the features and this is the most value-for-money variant of the Ciaz with an automatic transmission.

What Are The Features Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Zeta Variant?

With a manual transmission, the Ciaz Zeta variant of the Ciaz costs Rs. 9.71 lakh, which is Rs. 77,000 more than the Delta manual. The Zeta automatic costs Rs. 10.81 lakh, which is Rs. 1.1 lakh more than the Zeta manual. The Zeta’s price gap between the manual and automatic variants is Rs. 6,000 more than that of the Delta’s.

The notable additional features of the Zeta variant are:

    • Auto-dimming inside mirror
    • LED projector headlamps
    • Rear camera
    • Automatic headlamps
    • Rear windshield sunshade
    • Sunglass holder
    • Keyless entry with push-button start/stop
    • Electrically-folding outside mirrors
    • Front footwell lamps
    • LED DRLs
    • LED fog lamps
    • LED tail lamps
    • Rear adjustable headrests

For the asking price, the features don’t even come close to justifying the upgrade to the eta variant. Consider sticking with the Delta variant if you’re looking for better value and can manage without the Zeta’s features. If you can stretch, then the Alpha is an easy recommendation as it’s only about Rs. 27,000 more expensive.

In case of the Zeta automatic, the price difference is justified over the Zeta manual considering that ESP and hill-start assist are exclusively available with the automatic transmission only. But, the features again don’t justify the price gap compared to the Delta variant. Consider getting the Alpha automatic as the price jump is only about Rs. 29,000.

What Are The Features Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Alpha Variant?

The Ciaz Alpha manual costs Rs. 9.98 lakh, which is just Rs. 27,000 more than the Zeta manual. The Alpha automatic is priced at Rs. 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom). This price is Rs. 29,000 more compared to that of the Zeta automatic and Rs. 1.12 lakh more than the Alpha manual. The price gap between the manual and automatic transmission is swelling as we’re climbing up the grades. However, it is still reasonable considering that it adds two safety features, which are only available with the automatic transmission.

The notable features of the Ciaz Alpha variant are:

    • 7-inch touchscreen infotainment
    • Android Auto and Apple Carplay
    • Faux leather upholstery
    • Larger 16-inch machined alloy wheels

The Alpha variant adds more than enough features to justify the price over the Zeta variant. However, the upgrade over the Delta variant is not justified. For the value-hunters, the Delta remains our top pick even though it misses out on features like a touchscreen infotainment system and reversing camera. The Alpha variant is not as good of a value upgrade over the Delta variant, but some of its features warrant a consideration for their style and utility since the price gap is not that big. So, it gains our top recommendation.

In case of the Alpha automatic, the price gap compared to the most value for money variant, Delta, is even bigger than in case of the manual transmission variants. But, it’s not too much and hence, the Alpha is our top pick for you if you want the Ciaz with an automatic transmission.

What Are The Features Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S Variant?

The Ciaz’ S variant is only available with a manual transmission. It costs Rs. 10.09 lakh, only Rs. 11,000 more than the Ciaz Alpha. It’s mostly a cosmetic upgrade to help you stand out as it gets black outside mirrors, dark grey alloy wheels, black upholstery and a spoiler. While the price for these features is justified, if you live in a state where cars above Rs. 10.0 lakh are taxed much higher, the overall price could turn out to be much bigger. If you like these stylish upgrades and are willing to pay for them, then you can go ahead with it. It’s only available with red, silver and white colour options.

Which Variant Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Petrol Is The Most Value For Money?

The Sigma variant covers the basic features that might satisfy you if you are more interested in the Ciaz’ styling and space. The Delta variant is the most value for money variant of the Ciaz but cruise control is one of the big-ticket items, which helps it earn the ‘Most VFM’ badge. If you mostly drive in the city and don’t find the rest of the features all that important, then consider the Sigma variant and save money. The Zeta is definitely not worth upgrading but the Alpha is; although the price gap for the features is a little high. If you’re upgrading from a feature-rich hatchback, you might expect some of the Alpha’s features. In that case, you should get the Alpha variant. The upgrade to the S variant is up to you as it’s a cosmetic upgrade but the price gap of Rs 11,000 for the features is justified.

If you want the Ciaz automatic and are on a budget, then Delta is the most affordable and also the most value-for-money variant. Just like the manual variant, the Zeta automatic is also not a good value. If you can stretch your budget to accommodate the Zeta variant, then you should just chip in a little more and get the Alpha instead. The jump of Rs. 29,000 is negligible and the addition of touchscreen infotainment with modern smartphone connectivity and faux leather upholstery more than justify spending that sum.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Petrol?

The Ciaz’s mild-hybrid petrol engine makes a modest 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. It’s only comparable with the Toyota Yaris and even then, the Yaris has a 2PS and 2Nm of advantage. The Ciaz also has the least gears. The manual transmission is a 5-speed unit while the Yaris and Verna have 6 gears. The automatic transmission fares worse as it only has a 4-speed transmission and that too of the oldest torque converter variety. The Verna and Yaris have a CVT while the Verna also has the option of a modern 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with the turbo petrol engine. In fact, this turbo petrol engine beats the competition handily with its best-in-class power output and the fattest and widest torque output.

The only area where the Ciaz shines is with its fuel efficiency. It offers 20.65kmpl with the manual and 20.0kmpl with the auto despite its gas-guzzling fuel coupler automatic transmission.

What Are The Dimensions Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Petrol?

The Ciaz has the least impressive engine specifications but its dimensions easily explain why it has an impressive side profile with traditional 3-box design and healthy overhangs on either side. It’s the longest in its class and by quite a margin. It also has the longest wheelbase and the largest boot space while its width is on par with its competitors.
