BYD entered into a new global partnership with Manchester City Football Club as their Official Automotive Partner. The collaboration included vehicle supply, branding integration and sustainable energy solutions. The agreement further expanded BYD’s international sports engagement strategy.

BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles and sustainable mobility solutions, has announced an agreement to become the Official Automotive Partner of Manchester City Football Club. The strategic partnership marks one of the most significant collaborations between a global technology company and a leading football brand, reflecting BYD Group’s multi-faceted innovation and a shared commitment to a more sustainable future.

As part of the agreement, BYD will supply BYD and DENZA vehicles to Manchester City and contribute its expertise in new-energy technologies, including vehicle charging and energy-storage batteries, at the City Football Academy, the club’s training and development facility for its men’s, women’s, and academy teams. The partnership will also see BYD branding featured on the training-kit sleeve of the men’s first team from today and on the women’s first team from next season. Additionally, BYD branding will be visible across the Etihad Stadium, including on the headrests in the dug-out area. One of the company’s vehicles will lead the official Manchester City men’s first team bus into the stadium for Premier League and domestic cup home fixtures.

The collaboration forms part of BYD’s broader strategy to expand its presence in international football and enhance global awareness of its brand, vehicles, and technology solutions. The company has previously served as an official sponsor of UEFA EURO 2024 and the UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2025.

Founded in 1894, Manchester City is one of the most successful clubs in football history, having won 10 English league titles, seven FA Cups, one UEFA Champions League, and a FIFA Club World Cup. The club has played its home fixtures at the 53,000-seat Etihad Stadium since 2003 and boasts a global fan base that runs into the millions.

BYD began as a battery manufacturer just over 30 years ago and produced its first New Energy Vehicle (NEV), the world’s first mass-produced plug-in hybrid, in 2008. Since then, the company has established itself as a global leader in NEVs, achieving record sales of electric vehicles and Super Hybrid PHEVs, with a presence in more than 110 countries and regions. In December 2025, BYD marked the production of its 15 millionth NEV.

In 2025, BYD sold 4.6 million vehicles globally, with more than one million units sold outside China. Headquartered in Shenzhen, the company employs 120,000 engineers in research and development and files an average of 45 new patent applications every working day, underscoring its continued focus on technological innovation.
