Here’s what Toyota has to say about the two Kaushalya Karnataka awards:

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been conferred with two prestigious awards at the Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025, recognizing the company’s outstanding contributions to skill development and human capital building in India.

TKM received the Kaushalya Karnataka Corporate Excellence Award in Skilling (Large Industries Category) and the Kaushalya Karnataka Award for the Best Institution in Skill Competitions for the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI).

Organized by the Government of Karnataka and the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC), the Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025 celebrated exemplary institutions, trainers, and organizations driving excellence in the skilling ecosystem. The event, held at The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru, on November 6, was graced by Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister of Medical Education & Skill Development, Smt. Shivakantamma (Kanta) Naik, Chairperson, Karnataka Skill Development Corporation and Dr. E. V. Ramana Reddy, IAS(R), Chairman, Karnataka Skill Development Authority.

These recognitions reaffirm TKM’s long-standing commitment to nurturing globally competitive talent under its philosophy of “Grow India and Grow with India.” Through sustained collaboration with the Government of Karnataka, Toyota continues to empower youth with advanced technical expertise, work discipline, and the core values that define Toyota’s culture of excellence.

At the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), the company provides rigorous and holistic training to rural youth, ensuring they acquire not only technical proficiency but also leadership qualities, life skills, and a deep sense of social responsibility. These initiatives align closely with both the Government of India’s Skill India Mission and the Government of Karnataka’s Kaushalya Karnataka Vision, contributing to India’s journey toward becoming a global hub for skilled talent.

Appreciating the recognition, Mr. G. Shankara, Executive Vice President, Finance and Administration, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said:

We are deeply honoured to receive these prestigious awards from the Government of Karnataka. At Toyota, we believe that skill development is the foundation of nation-building. These recognitions inspire us to continue strengthening our skilling initiatives that empower India’s youth to succeed globally. Around sixty percent of our training focus is on building discipline, a strong safety mindset, values, respect, civic sense, and sustainable habits. The remaining forty percent refines craftsmanship — the Japanese Takumi spirit of mastery and excellence in every skill trade.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has established a comprehensive skilling framework that integrates advanced manufacturing know-how with hands-on training. Through initiatives such as the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), Toyota Kaushalya, Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP), and the Global Skill-Up Program, TKM has created inclusive pathways for youth to gain world-class technical exposure and professional growth.

Established in 2007 within TKM’s Bidadi plant, TTTI offers a three-year residential program for rural youth. With over 1,400 graduates and a 100% placement record, TTTI alumni have excelled in both national and international skill competitions. At WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, France, TTTI-trained participants earned multiple Medallions of Excellence. Complementing this is the Toyota Kaushalya Program, a two-year “Learn and Earn” model under the Flexi MoU scheme. The program’s success was recently highlighted when Mr. Manjunatha S, a Toyota Kaushalya trainee, was felicitated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, as the National Topper in the Directorate General of Training (DGT) All India Trade Test 2024.

Extending its global reach, TKM’s Global Skill-Up Training Program under the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) has enabled more than 1,000 TKM-trained youth to undergo advanced training at Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, promoting cross-border skill mobility.

TKM also actively partners with the Government of Karnataka to upgrade over 100 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) through faculty development, infrastructure enhancement, and culture-building initiatives. In collaboration with Samagra Shikshana Karnataka, Toyota is further advancing vocational education for 800 students across seven districts, ensuring equitable access to skill training and employability for rural youth.

Through these initiatives, over 1,40,000 youth across India have been trained and empowered — reflecting Toyota’s enduring belief that industrial progress and social progress must advance hand in hand.
