The Hyundai Palisade is the South Korean carmaker’s flagship SUV. The most notable feature of the Palisade D2-segment SUV is its sheer size. Not only is the Hyundai Palisade SUV bigger than the current segment leader, the Toyota Fortuner, but it is better equipped too. If launched in India, the Palisade could give the Toyota Fortuner a run for its money.

The Hyundai Palisade is currently sold in the US and Asia-Pacific markets such as Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and South Korea, among others. Based on the Palisade sold in these markets, here’s a quick look at the expected dimensions of the 2023 Auto Expo-bound SUV:

The US-spec Palisade is sold with a 3.5L V6 turbo-petrol engine. However, if Hyundai plan to launch the Palisade in India, they might equip it with a smaller diesel engine. We expect the India-spec Palisade to come with a 2.2L turbo-diesel engine that is offered in Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries. The turbo-diesel engine puts out 200PS of power and 440Nm of peak torque and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive.

We do not expect the Hyundai Palisade to go on sale in India in 2023. Hyundai have several cars lined up already for the Indian market for 2023, including the electric Hyundai Ioniq 5, Grand i10 Nios facelift, next-gen Verna sedan and the Creta facelift to name a few.

If launched in India, the Hyundai Palisade is likely to cost around the Rs. 45 lakh mark. We expect Hyundai to price the Palisade a shade below the Toyota Fortuner to give the Japanese SUV some much-needed competition. Although, the chances of the Palisade making it to India are bleak at the moment.
