Maruti Suzuki India are likely to showcase the Jimny SUV at the Auto Expo 2023. Let’s discuss the details like expected dimensions and engine specs, expected launch timeline, rivals and expected price of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door SUV.

The Jimny’s 3-door version has been a popular off-roader globally. Suzuki have added an electronic limited slip differential (LSD) feature, which makes the Jimny extremely capable in slippery terrain. A limited slip differential helps when a tyre is stuck on a slippery spot. It redistributes torque from the stuck tyre to the other tyres, helping to release the stuck tyre. This feature greatly adds to the Jimny’s SUV capabilities.

As per our sources, Maruti Suzuki will launch the Jimny in India as a 5-door SUV. The Jimny 5-door is likely to be offered in 4 variants with both manual and automatic transmission. Also, the Jimny might get mild hybrid tech to improve fuel efficiency to meet the consumer expectations in India. Take a look at the expected powertrain specifications of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny:
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will most likely be a B2-segment SUV and will compete with cars like Mahindra Thar, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite.
The Jimny 5-door was spied several times in the last few months and Maruti Suzuki have been testing it rigorously on Indian roads. Maruti Suzuki will most likely launch the Jimny 5-door at the 2023 Auto Expo or soon after the expo.

Currently, the only SUV with serious off-roading capabilities are the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. If Maruti Suzuki launch the Jimny 5-door with a starting price of Rs. 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom), then it will most likely beat the Thar 3-door by approximately Rs. 1.09 lakh. The difference between the top variants of the Thar (Petrol AT) and Jimny (Alpha AT) would likely be approximately Rs. 32,000.
