The India-spec Astor is likely to be offered with the same 1.5L normal petrol and 1.3L turbo petrol engines as the current model. In the Thai market, MG offers the Astor with a strong hybrid petrol engine. It comes with a 1.5L normal petrol engine coupled with an electric motor, which produces a combined power output of 177PS. The engine alone produces 109PS of power and 142Nm of torque. The electric motor, on the other hand, produces 95PS and 200Nm of torque. The powertrain comes mated to an e-CVT transmission and it channels power to the front wheels.
The MG Astor falls in the C-Segment and it will continue to rival other C-Segment SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Setlos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

MG are likely to showcase the Astor facelift at the 2023 Auto Expo. As MG already have the launch of the Hector facelift planned in the coming weeks, we do not expect MG to launch the Astor facelift before mid-2023. Furthermore, MG Motor India will also launch the small Air EV in early 2023.
The Astor facelift is likely to offer a fresh design along with a couple of new features. For the added updates and new features, MG could charge a premium of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 over the corresponding variants of the current MG Astor. Currently, the MG Astor is priced from Rs. 10.32 lakh and goes up to Rs. 18.23 lakh ex-showroom.
