MG showcased several new ICE, plug-in hybrids and electric cars, MPVs and SUVs at the 2023 Auto Expo. If you love MPVs, then MG’s pavilion is a must-visit as the carmaker showcased the Mifa 9 and Euniq 7 family MPVs. What makes them special is their respective powertrains and it’s interesting to note that both models are in production-form and are about to go on sale in global markets.

MG showcased the Mifa 9 family MPV at the Auto Expo 2023. MG claim it is the world’s first all-electric luxury family mover. It is set to go on sale in the UK soon under the Maxus brand but the electric van showcased at the MG pavilion wear the Morris Garages branding. The Mifa 9 measures 5720mm in length and is considerably longer than the Kia Carnival. It gets a 3200mm long wheelbase and can seat 7 people in comfort.
The MG Mifa 9 family MPV comes with a 90kWh battery pack that sits under the floor. The Mifa 9 offers a claimed driving range of over 500km on a single charge. MG are currently considering the Mifa 9 for the Indian market along with a host of other products. If MG launch the Mifa 9, it will sit above the BYD E6 and Kia Carnival in the Indian automotive space.

MG also showcased their hydrogen fuel cell-powered Euniq 7 family MPV. The details of the Euniq 7 are scarce as it is yet to go on sale in global markets. The Euniq 7 comes with an electric fuel-cell powertrain that offers a total power output of 201PS. It comes with a 6.4kg hydrogen cylinder which offers a claimed range of 605km. While a 6.4kg cylinder seems very small relative to an ICE-powered car, the cylinder can contain heavily compressed hydrogen and the only tailpipe emission from the Euniq 7 is water.

MG may launch the Euniq 7 in India but we do not expect its launch to take place anytime soon. Like we stated earlier, it is yet to go on sale in global markets and there is no solid infrastructure for hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles in India as of yet.
