Toyota Hilux Extreme Off Road Concept – Detailed Look From 2023 Auto Expo

Toyota’s Hilux Off Road Concept, showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, looks all set to take on the beaten path with its various modifications. Let’s take a closer look at what the Toyota Hilux Off Road Concept packs:

Toyota Hilux

Toyota Hilux Extreme Off Road Concept Mechanical Changes

Toyota were tight lipped about the changes made to the Hilux Off Road Concept. However, we’ll try to break down some of the changes made to this extreme off-roader. First off, the Hilux Extreme Off-Road Concept sits way taller than the standard Hilux pick-up truck thanks to a 6-inch lift kit.

The off-road concept also features chunky 5-spoke alloy wheels shod with extreme off-road tyres, which in this case are Renegade R/T+ from a company called Omni United. The wheel and tyre size were hard to gauge because of the extremely small lettering on the off-road tyres. Other changes on the underside include thicker coilover springs with gas dampers and beefier dampers on all four corners.

Toyota Hilux Extreme Off Road Concept Functional Changes

The Toyota Hilux Extreme Off Road Concept features several functional changes that improve its off-road capabilities. Apart from off-road bumpers that improve aperture and departure angles, the Hilux also receives a massive body-painted bull bar at the front.

The front bumper also houses a bash plate, a winch and tow hooks. Other additions to the front profile include fog lamps from ARB and several LED light bars from Night Hawk. Toyota have even mounted 2 LED spot lamps on the bonnet to help improve visibility while traversing through really tricky terrain at night.

While the side profile is dominated by stickers, a closer look reveals rock sliders that also serve as footsteps, a snorkel to improve water wading capabilities and a roof rack with jerry cans and traction boards. The rollover hoop behind the cabin features LED spot lights and a spade. The Hilux Extreme Off-Road Concept also comes with 2 spare tyres that are housed in the truck bed. The rear gets a black plastic cladding to protect the taillamps, 2 tow hooks and tow ball for towing a trailer.

Toyota have left the interior of the Hilux Extreme Off Road Concept untouched, which is a bit of a letdown. But all things considered, we’d be over the moon if Toyota offers the external modifications as an accessories pack that would not void the standard warranty of the Hilux.
