A Tyre Position Display is a digital feature in modern vehicles that shows the exact position of each tyre on the vehicle, usually through the instrument cluster or infotainment screen. It works in conjunction with the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to indicate which tyre is underinflated, overinflated, or malfunctioning.

Unlike basic TPMS systems that only show a warning light, the Tyre Position Display identifies each tyre individually – front left, front right, rear left, and rear right – allowing drivers to quickly locate and address issues.
Each tyre is equipped with a pressure and temperature sensor mounted inside the wheel. These sensors communicate wirelessly with the vehicle’s TPMS control unit, which then sends real-time data to the vehicle’s central display.
When one or more tyres deviate from the recommended air pressure, the system not only alerts the driver but also highlights the exact tyre that requires attention. Some advanced systems also display individual tyre temperatures, which can help detect early signs of overinflation or slow leaks.
Here are the pros, or advantages, of Tyre Position Display:
No. While most premium and mid-range cars now feature tyre position display as part of their advanced TPMS setup, many entry-level models only offer a generic TPMS warning light without positional indication.
Cars with connected vehicle features or digital instrument clusters are more likely to include this functionality.
Yes, but with limitations. Aftermarket TPMS kits with positional display are available and can be fitted to most cars. These kits come with external or internal sensors that transmit pressure and position data to a small display module or your smartphone via Bluetooth.
However, the accuracy and integration level of these systems vary depending on the brand and quality.
