2018 Audi RS6 Avant Performance Launched At INR 1.65 Crore
The Indian subsidiary of the German luxury automaker, Audi has launched the 2018 RS6 Avant Performance in the country priced at Rs 1.65 Crore (Ex-Showroom, India). The RS6 Avant was launched in 2015 in the international markets but it took the automaker three years in bringing the luxury car to the Indian market. Audi is already preparing to introduce the next-gen RS6 Avant by the end of this year in the global market.
The new Audi RS6 Avant Performance is essentially a performance-bred station wagon and the ‘Performance’ in the name suggests increased power output. Hence, in terms of powertrain the newly launched vehicle gets the robust 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine churning out an additional 45 bhp and 50 Nm torque compared to the regular unit which generates 552 bhp. The Avant Performance version now produces maximum power of 597 bhp and top torque of 750 Nm. Also, with the acceleration time reduced by 0.2 seconds as against the regular version, it now sprints to 100 kmph from still in just 3.9 seconds. The engine comes paired to an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and the power is sent to all four wheels through Audi’s Quattro All-Wheel Drive system which comes as a standard. Also, the new Audi RS6 Avant Performance hits top speed of 250 kmph which further extends to 305 in the Dynamic Package.
In terms of features, the RS6 Avant Performance offers contrast colored front splitter, rear diffuser, side door mirrors and Quattro badging on the front grille. At sides, rides on the 21.0-inch alloys. It also gets the RS sports exhaust- an adaptive air suspension set-up and deactivation function for reduced emissions and higher fuel economy. Some of the exterior details are in matt titanium look while the Ascari blue, metallic paint finish is exclusive to the Performance version.
Inside the car, RS6 Avant Performance gets the RS sport seats in Valcona leather and honeycomb stitching offering excellent lateral support even in the oddest driving situations, according to Audi. In addition, the RS multifunction sport steering wheel with gearshift paddles adds to the sports quotient of the newly launched vehicle. Other features include Audi’s Dynamic Ride Control, self-locking centre differential, adaptive air suspension and electronic stability program (ESP).;
The regular RS6 Avant was introduced in India back in 2015 and was priced at Rs 1.38 crore (ex-showroom, India). As new Audi RS6 Avant Performance is essentially a performance-bred station wagon and currently does not have a direct competitor in India. Also, recently Audi India secured the 2nd place at the 14th edition of the Audi International Twin Cup competition’s ‘Technology’ category. The event held for two days at Saalfelden, Austria, from July 25-27 and saw the best teams of technicians and service advisors from 34 countries competing with others to prove themselves. In other categories such as the ‘Service’, Team India closed the top five teams in 5th place and in the ‘Twin’ category, Team India again stood at 5th position.
