    2020 Hyundai i20 Variant-wise Engine Options Unveiled

    Hyundai is all set to launch the 2020 i20 in India on 5 November 2020 and the carmaker has already started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 21,000. With the commencement of bookings, Hyundai has also unveiled the variant-wise powertrain options of the new i20. So, let’s take a look.


    2020 Hyundai i20

    The new i20 will be offered in four variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). Here are the engine and transmission options on offer. 





    1.2-litre with 5MT

    1.5-litre with 6MT


    1.2-litre with 5MT or CVT and 1.0-litre turbo with 6-iMT

    1.5-litre with 6MT


    1.2-litre with 5MT or CVT and 1.0-litre turbo with 6-iMT or 7-DCT



    1.2-litre with 5MT and 1.0-litre turbo with 7-DCT

    1.5-litre with 6MT

    The 1.2-litre petrol engine (83PS/113Nm) mated to a 5-speed MT is offered as standard across all variants. It is also available with an option of CVT but in the Sportz and Asta variants only. The new i20 also gets a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (120PS/172Nm) and it is available with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox options. Where in the Sportz and the Asta (O) variant the 1.0-litre turbo engine is offered with a 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT, respectively, in the Asta variant it is offered with both 6-speed iMT and 7-DCT options. 

    The i20 is also available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine (100PS/240Nm) mated to a 6-speed MT but it is offered only on the Magna, Sportz and Asta (O) variants. 

    Hyundai is yet to unveil the variant-wise feature list of the new i20. It is expected to get features like auto LED headlamps, electric sunroof, auto AC with rear AC vents, digital instrument cluster, auto-dimming IRVM and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with connected car tech. 

    Hyundai will announce prices of the 2020 i20 on November 5. It is expected to be priced from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. It will continue to rival likes of the Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza, Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz and the Volkswagen Polo.
