Jeep India recently took the wraps off the 2022 Meridian for the Indian market. While bookings for the 2022 Meridian will open in May, the launch will take place in June 2022. Here, we try to estimate the price of the 2022 Meridian and the premium Jeep India is likely to charge over the SUV it is based on, the Jeep Compass.

The Jeep Meridian is already on sale in the Brazilian market. The Jeep Meridian sold in Brazil has similar specifications to that of the India-spec 3-row SUV. Here, we have converted the prices of the Brazil-spec Meridian to find out the percentage-change over the Brazil-spec Compass.

As you can see from the table above, Jeep charge a premium of 12.73% for the Meridian over the top-spec Compass. Now, let’s add that percentage to the Indian-spec Compass to see the expected price difference:
So as per our calculation, the Meridian 4x4 AT is expected to carry a premium of Rs. 3.46 lakh over the Compass 4x4 AT. We haven’t taken the lower variants into account as we are yet to get the variant and features segregation for the Meridian.

Jeep India haven’t revealed the change in dimensions of the Meridian over the Compass. But we do have the dimensions of the Brazil-spec Meridian (Commander), which should give us an idea about the size of the India-spec Jeep Meridian.
In India, the Meridian will only be offered with a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine. The Jeep Meridian’s 2.0L diesel engine produces 170PS of power at 3750rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 4500rpm. While the 2.0L diesel automatic is only available with 4WD in the Compass, the Meridian also gets the option of the 9-speed automatic gearbox with front-wheel-drive. The Meridian will also get 2WD manual and 4WD automatic variants.
