2022 Maruti Baleno CNG Confirmed By Official Accessory List | V3Cars
The official accessories list for the new 2022 Maruti Baleno has revealed a rather interesting detail. The list shows a few accessories with different prices for petrol and CNG variants. This indicates that Maruti will give the Baleno a CNG option soon. This will make the 2022 Baleno the first premium hatchback, as well as the first Nexa car, to get the option of a CNG powertrain.
We expect Maruti to provide the CNG option on all variants of the new Baleno. If they decide to offer the CNG only on mid-spec trims, like they have been doing so far, customers will not get the option of a feature-rich variant. With the Tigor CNG available at a similar price point, Maruti would not want to lose customers for the lack of features, as Tata offers the CNG even in the top-spec trims of the Tiago and Tigor. Also, a Nexa car with fewer features will degrade the premium image of Nexa.
The Baleno petrol uses a 1.2L normal petrol engine, which produces 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque. Expect to see a slight drop in power and torque figures of the Baleno CNG. As the Baleno will be the first car with Marut’s 1.2L dualjet petrol engine to use CNG, we have no exact power and torque figures of the CNG model. However, we can expect the power output to range between 75PS and 85PS and the torque output to be somewhere between 95Nm and 103Nm.
We expect Maruti to charge a premium of Rs. 1.0 lakh for the CNG variant over the respective petrol variants. The petrol manual Baleno currently costs between Rs. 6.35 lakh and Rs. 9.00 lakh. We expect Maruti to launch the Baleno CNG in the second quarter of 2022. Once launched, the Baleno CNG will compete against the Tigor CNG, Aura CNG and the upcoming Altroz CNG. Maruti are already leading the CNG car market in India. With the launch of Baleno CNG, they will further expand their footprint in the CNG segment, whilst also providing another option for Baleno buyers to choose from.
