2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Teased – To Debut On April 9 | V3Cars

Volkswagen have teased the 2026 Taigun facelift ahead of its debut on April 9, 2026. The Taigun, which rivals popular SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, is set to receive its first major update since its launch in 2021. Since the Taigun shares its platform and powertrain with the Skoda Kushaq, many of the updates seen on the recently launched 2026 Kushaq facelift could make their way to Volkswagen SUV as well.

What Does The Latest Taigun Teaser Reveal?

The latest teaser reveals the Taigun facelift’s updated front bumper, new LED headlamps as well as a connected light bar with an illuminated VW logo at the centre. At the rear, the taillamps get a redesign with updated graphics. Like the Tayron R-Line that was launched recently, the Taigun facelift too could get a red illuminated VW logo on the tailgate. Apart from these changes and new alloy wheel designs, the overall silhouette of the Taigun is unlikely to change.

Will The 2026 Taigun Offer Any New Features?

Yes, the 2026 Taigun is expected to borrow several features from the 2026 Kushaq such as:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Rear massage seats
  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Dual-colour ambient lighting

In comparison, the current model comes with a single-pane sunroof, an 8-inch driver’s display and single colour ambient lighting. Expect features such as front ventilated seats and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay to be carried forward.

Like the Kushaq, we expect the Taigun to offer an expanded list of standard features such as:

  • LED headlamps and tail lamps
  • Alloy wheels
  • Sunroof
  • Automatic climate control
  • Auto headlamps and wipers
  • Auto-dimming IRVM
  • Rear wiper and defogger

2026 VW Taigun Powertrain Options

For 2026, the Taigun 1L turbo petrol variants are expected to get the option of a new 8-speed torque converter (TC) automatic transmission instead of the 6-speed TC in the current model. The 8-speed automatic should help improve the Taigun’s highway refinement and mileage by allowing the engine to operate at lower RPMs during cruising. The 1L turbo petrol produces 115PS of power and 178Nm of torque.

For those craving for more performance, the Taigun facelift will continue to be available with the 1.5L turbo petrol, which produces 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque. Like the current model, this engine will be offered with the option of a 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

2026 VW Taigun Expected Prices

Like the Kushaq facelift, we expect the 2026 Taigun to get a slight bump in prices. Currently, the Taigun is priced from Rs. 11.42 lakh to Rs. 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, the Taigun will continue to rival the Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder as well as the Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, among others.
