2022 Nissan X-Trail SUV Launched In Australia | V3Cars

Nissan have launched the 4th-gen X-Trail SUV in Australia. It comes with petrol and petrol-strong hybrid powertrain options. The new X-Trail rivals other SUVs like the Hyundai Tucson and Citroen C5 Aircross.

In terms of deign, the new X-Trail takes a big leap over its predecessor. The 4th-gen X-Trail looks a lot fresher and incorporates a sportier design. At the front, it gets the signature Nissan grille flanked by split LED headlights. The tapering bonnet gives it a very aggressive front profile, which is further accentuated by the silver skid plate. Around the side, the X-Trail gets prominent wheel arches with black cladding along with machined dual-tone alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the X-Trail gets split LED tail lights and X-Trail badging at the centre of the tail gate.

2022 Nissan X-Trail — Interiors And Features

Like the exterior, the new X-Trail gets a revamped interior with high-quality materials. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes pride of place on the dashboard. Interestingly, the infotainment system offers wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay. However, Android users need to carry a wire for Android Auto connectivity. Other features include a 12.3-inch driver’s display, a head-up display, wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, 3-zone climate control, leatherette seats and a digital inside rear view mirror.

2022 Nissan X-Trail — Powertrain Options

In the Australian market, Nissan offer the X-Trial with either a 2.5L normal petrol engine or a 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine. Both engines can be specced with 4-wheel-drive, with the latter featuring an electric motor to power the rear axle. The 2.5L petrol engine produces 183PS of power at 6000rpm and 244Nm of torque at 3600rpm. The 1.5L strong hybrid with the 2WD setup produces 204PS of power and 330Nm whereas with 4WD, it produces 213PS of power and 330Nm of torque. It is worth noting that the rear-axle motor in the 4WD variants offer an additional 195Nm of torque.

2022 Nissan X-Trail — Rivals And India-Bound Details

The new Nissan X-Trail goes up against other SUVs, such as the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Citroen C5 Aircross, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Recently, a couple of spy shots of the Nissan X-Trail undergoing tests surfaced online. It could mean that Nissan are considering the X-Trail for the Indian market.
