2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Launch Confirmed For November — First Teaser Out! | V3Cars

The made-in-India Jeep Grand Cherokee is set to be launched in November. Jeep India have confirmed the Grand Cherokee November launch timeline and it will be the final new car launch from the brand for 2022. The 5th-generation Grand Cherokee will be locally assembled in India alongside the Compass, Meridian and Wrangler.

Jeep India have now shared a teaser for the left-hand-drive Grand Cherokee on their website. Jeep have also confirmed that the India-spec Grand Cherokee will feature advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS. However, we are yet to learn the full list of India-specific features for the new Grand Cherokee.

Like the Wrangler,  the Grand Cherokee will also be powered by a 2.0L turbo petrol engine. It is likely to produce 268PS of power and 400Nm of torque at 3000rpm. In the Wrangler, this engine comes mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and 4-wheel-drive.

Jeep offer the Grand Cherokee in 2 wheelbase options — standard wheelbase with 2-row seating and long wheelbase with 3-row seating. While we are yet to get confirmation on the seating configuration for the India-bound Grand Cherokee, the spy shots hint towards the standard wheelbase version with 2-row seating.

The teaser images on the Jeep India website reveal the terrain modes, 4x4 low control, vertically-stacked touchscreen infotainment system and a secondary entertainment system for the front co-passenger. Jeep India are likely to commence bookings for the Grand Cherokee soon. Jeep India is likely to price the Grand Cherokee from Rs. 85 lakh ex-showroom. It will rival the likes of the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5. Furthermore, Jeep are also likely to bring a sub-compact SUV to our shores in early 2023.
