BMW have launched the 2023 X1 sDrive18i M Sport in India at a price of Rs. 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The new X1 sDrive18i M Sport costs Rs. 3 lakh more than the X1 sDrive18i xLine variant. With the launch of the new variant, however, the X1 can now be had with the M Sport kit with either a turbo petrol or a turbo diesel engine. Let’s take a look at what the X1 sDrive18i M Sport offers for a substantial premium over the standard BMW X1 SUV.

As the name suggests, the BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport offers several sporty elements both on the inside and outside of the SUV. The M Sport variant of the X1 offers more aggressively styled bumpers at the front and rear along with 18-inch double spoke alloy wheels over the X1 xLine variants. It also offers adaptive LED headlights over the standard LED lights in the X Line trim. Other changes include 18-inch M Sport alloy wheels, body-coloured side cladding, side skirting, gloss black window line, M Sport badging on fenders and sportier rear bumper.

The X1 M Sport also offers a dual-tone black and white interior compared to the brown and black interior of the xLine variants. In terms of features, the M Sport trim offers a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, 2-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system.

Powering the X1 sDrive18i M Sport is the same 1.5L turbo petrol engine that powers the turbo petrol xLine variant. It produces 134PS of power and 230Nm of torque and channels its power to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The X1 petrol is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in 9.2 seconds. The X1 also comes with a 2.0L turbo diesel engine, which produces 148PS of power and 360Nm of torque.

BMW launched the X1 sDrive18i M Sport at Rs. 48.90 lakh and it costs Rs. 3 lakh extra over the petrol X Line. The new X1 rivals other compact premium SUVs like the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC40.
