Is This The India-Bound Hyundai Creta Facelift? | V3Cars

Ever since its launch in 2015, the Hyundai Creta has ruled the C-SUV segment thanks to its long list of features and powertrain options. The second generation Creta, which was launched in 2020, continues to dominate the market thanks to brand recall that the Creta nameplate enjoys in India. However, while global markets have received the Creta facelift, Hyundai India are yet to launch the updated model on our shores. That said, a new set of spy shots of the Creta recently surfaced online. Although covered in camouflage, this version of the Creta facelift seems different to the updated SUV that is currently on sale in Indonesia and Thailand. Could this be the India-bound Hyundai Creta facelift?

While the test car is wrapped in heavy camouflage, we can make out a few details, especially of its front profile. The new Creta facelift is likely to get a wider grille with larger chrome rectangular elements. It is also likely to offer split LED headlights — similar to the Venue and the upcoming Exter SUV. The top cluster could incorporate LED DRLs along with turn indicators whereas the lower cluster could house the individual LED lights for low and high beams.

The 2023 Hyundai Creta facelift could offer a 360-degree parking camera and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The spy shots reveal the front parking camera placed below the Hyundai logo and a radar sensor on the lower bumper is also visible. Currently, the MG Astor is the only C-segment SUV to offer ADAS features and the upcoming Honda SUV is likely to become the second offering in the segment with ADAS features.

The 2023 Hyundai Creta facelift is likely to retain the current model’s 1.5L normal petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. Furthermore, the Creta facelift could also receive the new 1.5L turbo petrol engine from the new Verna sedan. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine already powers the Creta-based Hyundai Alcazar, where it produces 160PS of power at 5500rpm and 253Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 3500rpm. It comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

2023 Hyundai Creta Facelift Launch Details

Earlier this year, a Hyundai spokesperson confirmed to V3Cars that they will not launch the Creta facelift in India in 2023. Hence, we believe the new Creta facelift that was spotted on test could launch in 2024. It is likely to be vastly different from the Creta facelift that is on sale in Indonesia and Thailand.
