2023 Hyundai Exter Launch Timeline

Hyundai India are likely to launch the Exter SUV in July 2023. The carmaker is likely to commence bookings for the small SUV soon. While the Exter will rival the Tata Punch and Citroen C3, its top variants that are likely to offer a 1.0L turbo petrol engine, could also compete against the turbo petrol variants of the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It is worth noting that Citroen recently stopped accepting bookings for the turbo variants of the C3. You can read more about that by clicking the link below.

2023 Hyundai Exter Design Details

The first teaser image of the Hyundai Exter reveals its sharp design as it follows the brand's latest design philosophy. At the front, it gets a wide grille up front that sits lower around the bumper whereas a slim black applique runs above and houses the H-shaped LED DRLs. The main LED headlights sit lower inside the radiator grille. The image also reveals a faux silver skid plate and body cladding on the wheel arches. Like the new Verna, the Exter will also wear Hyundai’s new logo, which is flatter and bigger than before. Hyundai are likely to reveal more design sketches of the side and rear profiles of the Exter soon.

2023 Hyundai Exter Powertrain Details

Since the new Hyundai Exter small SUV is likely to share its platform with the Grand i10 Nios, it is safe to assume that it will also borrow the 1.2L normal petrol engine from the Nios hatchback. The Fronx and C3 also offer a 1.2L normal petrol engine at affordable price points. Additionally, the Exter could also offer a 1.0L turbo petrol engine with the higher variants for those craving performance. The turbo petrol engine could give the Exter the upper hand over the segment leader — the Tata Punch — that doesn’t offer a turbo petrol engine option yet. Furthermore, considering the popularity of CNG powered vehicles these days, Hyundai may also offer the Exter with a factory-fitted CNG option for cost-conscious buyers.
