Hyundai confirmed to V3Cars that the 2023 Verna will not get a panoramic sunroof. Hyundai’s head of product strategy and planning, Amit Dhaundiyal, told V3Cars at the sidelines of the car’s media drive that the new Verna is not developed keeping a panoramic sunroof in mind.

Sedans typically do not get a panoramic sunroof because they compromise headroom for passengers. Since sedans do not have the tall height of SUVs, the engineers need to efficiently manage the space on the inside. The Verna 2023 gets a regular-sized electric sunroof and thus, it offers adequate headroom for both front and rear passengers.

Adding a panoramic sunroof would require a larger area and also space to incorporate a larger rolling sunshade, which usually resides at the rear end of the vehicle’s roof. Adding a panoramic sunroof in the new Verna would either require a reduction in headroom for or an increased height. The former would make the cabin of the new Verna uncomfortable for tall passengers while the latter would not suit the sleek stance that sedans are known for.
Hence, Hyundai settled for a regular-sized sunroof, which serves the aspirations of most car buyers in India. Furthermore, no sedan in the C2-segment currently offers the option of a panoramic sunroof. However, a few premium offerings, such as the BMW 3 Series, do offer a panoramic sunroof. But they cost upwards of Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
