2023 Kia Sonet Facelift — Exterior Details

While the test car was wrapped in camouflage, the Sonet facelift spy shots do reveal a few details about the exterior changes. At the front, the Sonet will retain its single-piece LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs. However, we could expect Kia to reprofile the design of the DRLs. It could also offer a set of new bumpers along with a new set of machined alloy wheels. At the rear, the Sonet could get an updated design for the connected LED tail light with the central light bar lighting up this time around. The images of the test car reveal larger LED tail lights and their design looks similar to that of the Seltos facelift.

2023 Kia Sonet Facelift — Interior And Features

On the inside, the new Sonet facelift could feature a redesigned dashboard design along with a couple of new features. The Sonet already is a feature-loaded SUV as it packs a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, cabin air purifier, front ventilated seats and electric sunroof. With the facelift, Kia could offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster and power-adjustable driver’s seat.

2023 Kia Sonet Facelift — Powertrain Details

On the powertrain front, we do not expect Kia make any changes. The Sonet is likely to continue with the same set of engine-transmission combinations. Currently, the base variants of the Sonet offer a 1.2L normal petrol engine that produces 83PS of power at 6000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 4200rpm. The higher variants of the Sonet offer a 1.0L turbo petrol engine that offers 120PS of power at 6000rpm and 172Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 4000rpm and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine that produces 115PS of power at 4000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 2750rpm. While the base petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual transmission only, both the turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines offer auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) and automatic transmission options.

2023 Kia Sonet Facelift — Launch Details

Kia launched the Sonet in India in September, 2020. If we follow the product refresh cycle of a vehicle in India, the Sonet should receive a facelift towards the end of 2023. However, since its elder sibling — the Seltos — is yet to receive its facelift, we do not expect the Sonet facelift to hit our shores before that. If we assume Kia India to launch the Seltos facelift around this festive season, the launch of the Sonet facelift is not likely to take place before early 2024.
