Mercedes-EQ have taken the wraps off the 2022 EQS SUV. The EQS SUV makes use of the EQS sedan’s platform but sits higher. The EQS SUV’s design falls in line with Mercedes’ new-age electric vehicles. It is powered by a 107.8kWh battery pack, which is shared with the EQS sedan.

The 2023 Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV measures 5,125mm in length, 1,959mm in width, 1,718mm in height and sports a wheelbase of 3,210mm. The wheelbase of the EQS SUV is the same as the EQS sedan but it rides 20mm taller off the ground. Thanks to the long wheelbase, Mercedes-EQ will also offer a 7-seat option with the EQS SUV.

On the design front, the EQS SUV gets a wide front profile with sweeping LED headlights. The clamshell bonnet gets prominent creases – helping in aerodynamics too. At the back, like every other EQ model, the EQS SUV gets sleek LED tail lights with a connecting bar in the middle. On the inside, the EQS SUV gets three screens on the dashboard. The central infotainment system measures 17.7-inch in size. The EQS SUV also gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger.

As we stated earlier, the EQS SUV shares its battery pack with the EQS sedan. The 107.8kWh battery pack of the EQS SUV sits on the floor – giving it the lowest centre of gravity in Mercedes’ SUV portfolio. The Mercedes EQS SUV will be offered in both rear-wheel-drive and 4-wheel-drive drivetrains. The claimed range of the EQS SUV stands at 660km on a single charge. Speaking of charging, Mercedes-EQ offer over 7,00,000 AC and DC charging stations worldwide.

The Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV will go up against the BMW iX and Audi e-tron. Both the iX and e-tron have been launched in the Indian market and we expect Mercedes-EQ to launch the EQS SUV in the Indian market soon. Closer to home, Mercedes-EQ India are gearing up to begin the local assembly of the EQS electric sedan and the launch of the same is slated for later this year.
