MG Motor India have launched India’s cheapest electric vehicle — the Comet EV. The prices of the Comet EV start from Rs. 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Read on to know the features, specifications and prices of the Comet EV.

MG Motor India have only announced the starting price of the Comet EV, which is Rs. 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The  prices of the mid and too-spec variants of the Comet EV are likely to be announced in the first week of May 2023. The test drives of the Comet EV will begin on April 27 while the bookings will open on May 15, 2023.

The Comet EV offers a 2-door bodystyle and seating space for up to 4 passengers, including the driver. At the front, it gets a connecting LED light bar whereas the main headlights sit lower on the bumper. It gets LED headlights, LED turn indicators and LED tail lights — giving it a modern appeal. Around the side, the Comet EV gets large doors for easy ingress and egress for and 12-inch wheels with wheel covers.

MG Comet EV Interior And Features

On the inside, the Comet EV offers a connected screen layout with each screen measuring 10.25-inch in size. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system of the Comet EV offers wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Furthermore, it offers features like drive modes, multi-level regenerative braking, power-adjustable side mirrors, 2-spoke steering wheel with controls, dual front airbags, reverse parking camera with sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system.

MG Comet EV Powertrain Details

The Comet EV comes with a 17.3kWh battery pack that powers a rear-mounted electric motor. The electric motor produces 42PS of power and 110Nm of torque. The Comet EV offers a claimed range of 230km on a single charge. In terms of charging, the Comet EV can juice up its batteries from 0-100% in 7 hours via a 3.3kW AC charger. MG do not offer any fast charging support with the Comet EV.

MG Comet EV Rivals

The Comet EV is currently the most affordable electric vehicle in the country. It rivals other affordable electric vehicles like the Tiago EV and Tigor EV. The prices of the Tiago EV start from Rs. 8.69 lakh and go up to Rs. 11.99 lakh. The prices of the Tigor EV start from Rs. 12.49 lakh and go up to Rs. 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
