A new set of spy shots of the upcoming Tata Nexon recently surfaced online while it was being unloaded from a flat bed. The new Nexon gets a large connected LED tail light design. The LED tail lights are connected with a thin LED strip and they form a Y-pattern towards either ends. While the bumper gets a generous use of black cladding, a part of this cladding also extends to the boot lip in a bid to make the rear end of the new Nexon more stylish. Needless to say, the new tail light design makes the new Nexon look a lot wider than what it actually is.

While we are yet to get a clear set of images of its front profile, earlier spy shots revealed a similar connected light treatment for the headlamps as well. The new Nexon will join the rest of Tata SUVs by offering a split headlight design. Moreover, it will be the first Tata SUV to boast the latest design language, which incorporates a connected LED DRL design at the front. The same design treatment will also make its way to the Harrier and Safari SUVs soon.

While the new Nexon will offer a host of changes in terms of its design and features, it is likely to retain the current model’s powertrain options. The 1.2L turbo petrol engine, which in the current iteration produces 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque, is likely to boast no changes except for one — the transmission. While the 6-speed manual is likely to remain as is, Tata could introduce a new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with the new Nexon instead of the 6-speed AMT of the current model. The diesel variants of the new Nexon are expected to retain the current model’s 1.5L turbo diesel engine and 6-speed manual and AMT transmission choices.
