Maruti Nexa has teased an event on September 5 and 6 with the image showing a hatchback silhouette that strongly resembles the Baleno. Although Maruti have not identified the car or called either date its launch date, we believe the event is likely connected to the 2026 Baleno facelift.

The teaser outlines the car’s bonnet, windscreen, roof and rear spoiler. When compared with the current Baleno, the visible upper body is an extremely close match.
Both cars share a low bonnet, similar windscreen angle, gently curved roof and short tailgate spoiler.
This similarity is expected from a facelift: the 2026 Baleno facelift was spotted testing in April 2026.
The teaser only asks recipients to block September 5 and 6. It does not use the words launch, unveil, reveal or media drive.
Maruti could reveal the updated Baleno on September 5 and conduct a media drive on September 6. However, that is only our interpretation of the 2-day schedule.
For now, September 5 and 6 should be treated as the confirmed event window. The exact Baleno facelift launch date remains unconfirmed.
The phrase “experience the glam side of Nexa” appears deliberate. Maruti Nexa has long associated itself with fashion and lifestyle, including collaborations with Lakme Fashion Week.
Maruti have also used fashion events to showcase new cars in the past. The carmaker unveiled the XL6 at Lakme Fashion Week in 2019. Therefore, “glam” could describe the event or the marketing campaign around the updated Baleno. A fashion or lifestyle activation featuring the Baleno also remains possible.
However, the Baleno-shaped silhouette and the timing of the facelift’s road tests make the updated hatchback the most likely subject of the teaser.
The second-generation Baleno went on sale in February 2022. A mid-life update after approximately 4 years would follow a normal product lifecycle.
The test car spotted earlier in 2026 featured a revised front section with a new grille and bumper. Its headlights, side profile and rear design appeared largely familiar. Maruti could also introduce new alloy wheels, exterior colours and tail lamp graphics.
Inside, the test car appeared to retain the current dashboard layout and a larger touchscreen. The facelift could receive new upholstery, updated trim materials and a few additional features.
The current Baleno already offers:
Maruti could add features such as a wireless phone charger, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a larger touchscreen, possibly the 10.1-inch unit that is offered in the top varaint of the new Brezza facelift. However, the carmaker have not confirmed any of these additions.
The existing Baleno’s 1.2L normal petrol and CNG engines remain the safest expectation for the facelift.
The following table lists the current Baleno’s powertrain specifications:
*CNG power and torque figures are in CNG mode.
Maruti could also introduce the 1.0L turbo petrol engine offered with the Fronx and the updated Brezza. The Fronx shares its platform with the Baleno, making such an addition technically possible.
However, neither the latest teaser nor the previously spotted test car confirms the turbo engine’s inclusion.
The current Baleno costs between Rs. 5.99 lakh and Rs. 9.17 lakh. The facelift is likely to carry a small premium over the corresponding existing variants.
It will continue to rival the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza in the B2-segment hatchback space.
