8 Missing Features In MG Astor Over Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder | V3Cars

Toyota recently unveiled the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It is all set to launch in the coming months and will become the first strong hybrid SUV in the C-Segment. The MG Astor, on the other hand, is the latest offering from the Chinese-owned British carmaker.

Astor Features Lacks Over Hyryder

We put the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder up against the MG Astor to tell you 8 features that are missing in the Astor but present in the Hyryder.

1. Wireless Charger

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder offers wireless phone charger whereas the MG Astor doesn’t get any wireless charging pad. It is worth noting that none of the SUVs in the C-segment offer wireless functionality for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

2. Auto-Dimming IRVM

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder offers an auto-dimming inside rear view mirror (IRVM) with brightness control whereas the MG Astor comes with a manual IRVM with a toggle switch for day/night function.

3. Ventilated Seats

The front seats in the Urban Cruiser Hyryder come with a 3-speed ventilation function. The Astor, on the other hand, doesn’t get seat ventilation. However, the Astor redeems itself with a power-adjustable driver seat that is missing in the Hyryder.

4. All-Wheel-Drive

Toyota offer the Urban Cruiser Hyryder with an all-wheel-drive system with its mild hybrid petrol engine. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and terrain modes. The Astor, on the other hand, only comes with a front-wheel-drive setup.

5. Drive Modes

The all-wheel-drive and strong hybrid variants of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder come with drive modes. In addition to that, the strong hybrid variants also offer a dedicated EV mode for instances when you want to use only electric power. The Astor doesn’t get any drive modes but it comes with steering modes to change the responsiveness of the steering rack.

6. Telescopic Steering

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder offers tilt and telescopic steering as standard across all variants. Meanwhile, the Astor only offers tilt steering even in the top-spec variants.

7. Head-up Display

Following the trend in new Maruti Suzuki cars, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes with a head-up display. It shows various vehicle parameters like fuel efficiency, speed, fuel level and energy transmission.

8. Reclining Rear Seat

The rear seat back of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder offers a 2-step recline function. The Astor, on the other hand, comes with a fixed recline angle for the rear seat back.
