Among all the international auto shows, the Geneva Motor Show is one of the most coveted ones and holds a very special importance in the global auto industry. The Geneva Motor Show thus, gets to witness some very special, unique and important model debuts from various car majors every year. It is already known that Japanese car maker Suzuki will be launching the next generation Swift hatchback at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show, while latest reports point towards the probable unveiling of the next generation Volvo XC60 at the event.

As per the reports, the annual Swiss auto show that is scheduled in March 2017, will be witnessing the Swedish car major Volvo take the wraps off the next generation XC60, which will be replacing the ongoing XC60. The current generation model of the Volvo XC60 premium compact SUV was first launched back in 2008 and is thus well over the usual auto life cycle of 6 years. The Volvo XC60 premium SUV rivals the likes of the Jaguar F-Pace, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5 and BMW X3.

The upcoming all new Volvo XC60 will be receiving major updates and will be an all improved contemporary version of its predecessor. The new generation Volvo XC60 will be based on the company’s versatile SPA architecture which made its debut with the Volvo XC90, while also underpinning the S90 and V90. However, the XC60 wheelbase will be shorter than the flagship model Volvo XC90, while flaunting similar design language. The spy shots of the XC60 which were revealed earlier point that the new XC60 will look very similar to the XC90 which is indeed really impressive. Thus, it is expected that the premium compact SUV model will flaunt the same patent chrome radiator grille that will be complemented by the highly praised signature 'Thor's Hammer' shaped LED headlights as well as attractive vertically stacked tail lights. The all new XC60 will also feature a boxier and sharper profile as compared against the sweptback styling of the current-gen model.

The SUV’s cabin is also likely to be very similar to that of the XC90. This means top-notch interior quality and design with a lot of superior soft touch materials, premium leather clad seats, a huge touchscreen infotainment system and a whole host of other premium features. The all new XC60 is expected to continue its 5-seater configuration.

The next-gen Volvo XC60’s new modular architecture will let the company offer more engine choices under its hood. The SUV will be offered in several turbocharged options of both petrol and diesel mills, while a Twin-Electric plug-in hybrid powertrain will be also there on the T8 Hybrid version.

The all new Volvo XC60 is likely to hit the Indian market in early 2018 and will be a fully imported model. As the Volvo XC90 and S90 received great response in the Indian market, the Swedish car major should be certainly eager to introduce the next generation XC60 in this country and boost the company’s sales. Volvo India also recently launched the updated 2017 models of the V40 and V40 Cross Country.
