Manufacturer-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of percentage, Skoda posted the best YoY improvement of 436% because of the newly added cars like the Kushaq and Slavia
- Volkswagen also posted a healthy 132% YoY improvement because of the addition of Taigun to the portfolio
- MG and Nissan were the worst performers posting 23% and 29% lower YoY sales in April 2022, respectively
- Maruti Suzuki suffered a drop of 10.2% along with Hyundai also posting
- Tata and Toyota witnessed a massive increase in YoY sales figures as their sales jumped 66% and 57%, respectively
- Kia and Mahindra also posted healthy growth of 18% and 22%, respectively
- Skoda and Volikswagen were the top YoY gainers while nissan and MG were top losers
Manufacturer-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- In terms of MoM change, most carmakers witnessed a drop except Honda as they posted 19.5% improvement
- Honda were the top MoM gainer while MG were top loser with a 57.5% lower MoM sales figure
- Maruti Suzuki suffered an 8.9% drop while Tata and Hyundai’s sales remained flat-ish
- Mahindra and Kia also witnessed substantial drop of 19% and 16%, respectively but not as much as Nissan
- Nissan’s MoM sales figure dropped 30% in April
Segment-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of YoY change, B2 segment was the biggest gainer posting a 30% YoY improvement
- The B1 segment was the biggest loser with YoY sales shrinking almost 29%
- Besides the B2 segment, the C segment also witnessed an YoY growth of 17.5%
Segment-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- Just like the manufacturer sales, almost all segments witnessed a MoM sales drop
- B1 segment was the biggest loser with a 19.8% YoY drop followed by A and B2 segments posting a MoM change of -16.9% and -16.6%, respectively
- D1 segment saw the MoM sales increase by 1.5%
Body-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of YoY change, the sedans are witnessing a comeback with an YoY improvement of 202%
- SUVs sales shrunk 54% YoY in April 2022
- Demand for MPVs and hatchbacks remained flat-ish in April compared to April 2021 sales figures
Body-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- Almost all mass-market body styles saw a drop in MoM demand
- Sedans lost 25% sales and were the biggest loser
- Pickup segment saw a 616% MoM gain
- If you ignore the low-volume pickup segment’s skewed numbers, then MPV comes out as the biggest gainer posting 20.5% better MoM sales figures
