April 2022 - Maruti Suzuki Car Sales Figures - YoY Change
- Among Maruti’s cars, the Celerio witnessed a huge YoY growth of 1825%; this is because the older model was on its way out this time last year with spy images of the newer car often surfacing online
- Other than the abnormal YoY gains of the Celerio, the Ertiga, S-Cross and XL6 were the top performers posting an improvement of 72%, 30% and 29.5%, respectively
- Most of the cars in Maruti’s portfolio witnessed a YoY drop in April 2022
- Among top losers are Ciaz, Swift and Alto witnessing a YoY decline of 63%, 51.4% and 39.7%, respectively
- The Ciaz seems to be losing ground to newer cars like the Skoda Slavia, Honda City and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus as customers are willing to hold their purchase for a bigger car
- The WagonR remains a consistent performer and the 2022 update must have helped as the newer model has a significantly better mileage from its new dual-jet engine
