In this April 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all B1-segment hatchbacks in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all B1-segment hatchbacks for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend.

B1-Segment Hatchback April 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

The Maruti Suzuki Swift was the top YoY gainer in April 2023, with a growth of 111%
The Tiago was the second gainer after the Swift, with a 67% YoY rise in dispatches over April 2022
The only car in the category to report a YoY decline in sales numbers in April 2023 was Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, which reported a YoY drop of 25% compared to April 2022
Maruti’s cars were best and least selling cars in the category, with WagonR as the former with nearly 21,000 units and with Ignis as the latter with just over 4,000 units sold in the month of April in 2023

B1-Segment Hatchback April 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios was the only loser in the category in terms of MoM comparison, with a 26.49% decrease over March
Although Ignis saw least growth in the YoY comparison, it was the best performing car in the segment in MoM comparison with 48.59% growth
Ignis was followed by WagonR with 20.76% MoM growth in April MoM comparison
