South Korean car maker, Kia Motors finally debuted in the Indian car market after long speculations. Kia made its Indian debut in panache with the showcase of its 16 global model lineup and the world premiere of the SP Concept SUV at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018. Although the new Kia SP SUV was the centre of attraction, the one model that grabbed eyeballs the most for being stunning is the Kia Stinger, which is the South Korean carmaker’s flamboyant flagship model.
Kia, which is Hyundai Motor’s subsidiary, is expected to launch product by mid-2019, and going ahead we might expect to get something like the head-turning Stinger in the future. The white clad Stinger does look good enough to give serious competition to some of the luxury tourers from the German luxury carmaker trio. Kia has done a clever thing by showcasing the Stinger at the Auto Expo to show off its car making prowess and to flaunt how the company can efficiently amalgamate power and style in a single affordable package. However, Kia won’t be launching the Stinger in India anytime soon, owing to the exorbitantly high import duties for fully imported cars.
The Kia Stinger is an all performance centric luxury model that has a low-slung racy appeal, but it has been designed to look grand at the same time. It has a perfect mixture of striking aggressive styling and sleek visual appeal. It flaunts a highly stylized face with a large honeycomb ‘tiger-nose’ grille, upswept LED headlights with flashy jewel-like Daytime Running Lights. The Kia Stinger is a grand tourer and thus, gets large air intakes and air vents on its hood.
The side profile of the Stinger is as powerful and stunning as its face. It gets muscular wheel aches flaunting 19 inch alloy wheels, while the peeping Brembo disc brakes added to the performance looks. The Stinger has short overhangs at the rear and features quad exhaust tips, sharply styled LED tail lights that are joined with a reflector strip.
The Kia Stinger is a great family car and is strewn with superb equipments and features for the complete comfort and convenience of all the occupants. The car offers comfortable and very well supported seats clad in luxurious Nappa leather. There’s an 8 inch touchscreen system which dominates the premium all-black dashboard. Other fascinating bits in the cabin of the Stinger include a very sophisticated looking air con vents, a stylish flat-bottomed steering wheel with mounted controls, paddle shifters, a 7 inch TFT instrument cluster and a heads-up display among many more premium features.
At the heart of the Kia Stinger is a twin turbocharged 3.3 litre V6 engine that offers the car its great racing abilities. The refined engine has the capability of generating an impressive 366 PS of top power along with a hammering 510 Nm of peak torque. The mill gets paired to a sophisticated 8 speed automatic transmission to offer superb driving experience.
