BMW 2 Series GC 220i Sport Launched; Prices Now Start At Rs 37.90 Lakh | V3Cars
BMW launched the 2 Series Gran Coupe with a diesel engine in October 2020 and introduced the 220i M Sport in January 2021. The carmaker has now introduced a new more affordable variant of the petrol sedan, the 220i Sport. It is priced at Rs 37.90 lakh (ex-showroom), Rs 3 lakh less than the top-spec 220i M Sport variant.

Compared to the M Sport variant, the Sport variant misses out on features like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (gets smaller 8.8-inch unit instead), BMW gesture control, wireless mobile charging, LED fog lamps and 205W sound system. It also misses out on M Sport specific elements like M aerodynamic package, M steering wheel and 225/40 R18 tyres (gets 225/45 R17 tyres instead).
Standard features on offer include auto LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, ambient lighting, dual-zone AC, panoramic sunroof, cruise control with braking function, powered front seats, rearview camera, 6 airbags, traction control, electronic stability program and tyre pressure monitoring system.
BMW offers the M Sport variant in 7 colour options while the newly launched Sport variant is offered in 5 colour options only. The 220i Sport is offered in Alpine White, Black Saphire, Melbourne Red, Storm Bay and Seaside Blue colours missing out on Misano Blue and Snapper Rocks Blue.
Things are have remained unchanged under the hood. The 220i Sport gets the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine as the M Sport variant. It makes 190PS and 280Nm paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. BMW claims that the 220i can go from 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds and has a fuel economy of 14.82 kmpl.
BMW 2 Series competes with upcoming cars like the Mercedes Benz A-Class Limousine and the Audi A3 sedan.
