BMW India has launched the 320d Gran Turismo Sport in India priced at Rs 46.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). As the name suggests, the BMW 320d GT Sport will be only available in diesel option. The mid-spec Luxury Line variant of the luxurious vehicle is priced at Rs 49.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and the top-end M Sport variant will cost 51.20 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Commenting on the launch, Vikram Pawah, President- BMW Group India, said, “The new BMW 320d Gran Turismo exhibits striking sporty elements both inside as well as outside, and creates a perfect interplay of luxury and ‘Sheer Driving Pleasure’. With the introduction of this new sportier version, we are offering an attractive choice for our customers who want to elevate the feeling of dynamism and sporty aspirations in their vehicles.”
As mentioned above, the 320d GT Sport by BMW will be available with diesel engine only. The premium vehicle comes powered by a 1,995 cc TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine that churns out a maximum power of 190 bhp and develops a peak torque of 400 Nm. The engine comes mated to the existing 8-Speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The 320d GT Sport is capable of doing 0-100 kmph in just 7.7 seconds. Other than this, the car also comes with BMW's Driving Experience Control system offering four different driving modes to choose from - Comfort, ECOPRO, Sport, and Sport +.
In terms of looks, the newly launched BMW 320d GT Sport looks completely identical to the other two variants. However in terms of styling, the car takes forward the cues from the M Sport variant such as the air intakes finished in satinized aluminium and the 9 slats in Black high-gloss kidney grille. Other than this, the car also gets front door sills finishers with inserts in aluminium with "BMW" designation, high-gloss design elements at the front and back, tailpipe finished in black chrome and leather steering wheel with Red contrast stitching. The exterior color option includes - Alpine White, Black Sapphire (metallic), and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect (metallic), while the car runs on a set of 18-inch twin-five-spoke alloy wheels.
The interior of the new Sport variant features fine-wood trim Ash Grain and highlight trim finisher in Pearl Chrome along with Red contrast stitching on the sport steering wheel and gear shift paddles in order to emphasize the sportiness of the car. A 205W, nine speaker Hi-Fi system for a good acoustic experience has been added to enhance the ambience inside the 320d GT Sport. The upholstery combinations on the new variant include Sensatec Black/Red highlight, Black and Sensatec Veneto Beige and Veneto Beige. However, the car definitely misses out on some features like the adaptive LED headlights, and instead of the 10.5-inch adaptive instrument display with individual character designs for drive modes, the car gets a standard high-resolution instrument display with extended contents.
Though, the 2018 BMW 320d GT Sport has no direct rivals in the country but in terms of pricing, it will be compared to the Mercedes-Benz C-class (Rs 42.54-46.89 lakh) and Audi’s A4 (Rs 41.47-46.94 lakh) and A5 (Rs 55.40 lakh) in India.
