The 1.5L normal petrol engine in the 4th-gen City produces 119PS of power at 6600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4600rpm. The prices of the 4th-gen City are Rs. 9.50 lakh for the SV variant and Rs. 9.99 lakh for the V variant ex-showroom. Because of its sub Rs. 10.0 lakh ex-showroom price tag, it will also fall in a lower tax bracket in several states.

Keeping up with BS6 phase-II emission norms is an expensive affair. Hence, Honda are likely to pull the plug on their 1.5L turbo diesel engine. In the 5th-gen Honda City, this engine produces 100PS of power at 3600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1750rpm. While its rivals offer better performance, the City is the only one measuring more than 4500mm for great road presence and amazing rear-seat space. If you are looking for a chauffeur-driven sedan to cover long distances in comfort, the 5th-gen Honda City diesel could become the perfect mile muncher to add to your garage. 3. Hyundai Verna Diesel-Automatic

Currently, the Verna is the only sedan in its class with a diesel-automatic powertrain option. It comes with a 1.5L turbo diesel engine with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission option. It produces 115PS of power at 4000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 2750rpm. If you are looking for a diesel automatic sedan, the Verna is the last option. The ex-showroom prices of the Hyundai Verna diesel start from Rs. 11.08 lakh and go up to Rs. 15.53 lakh.

4. Skoda Superb

Skoda may axe the Superb sedan owing to the upcoming emission norms and there is no word when it will make a comeback. The Superb competes with the Toyota Camry but costs much lower than the Japanese sedan. Additionally, it also offers the same engine that’s used in multiple Audi cars while also offering premium interior quality and features. The Superb gets a 2.0L turbo petrol engine, which makes 190PS of power at 6000rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1450rpm and 4200rpm. The engine comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the front wheels. The Skoda Superb costs between Rs. 34.19 lakh and Rs. 37.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
