Citroen have teased the Aircross and Basalt X on their official website with the message “Value For Money Like You’ve Never Seen Before”. The teaser shows the silhouettes of both SUVs but does not reveal any details about the upcoming update.

Based on the timing and Citroen’s recent product strategy, we expect the teaser to be related to new variants or special editions of the Aircross and Basalt X. These could follow a similar formula to the Comfort Editions introduced for both SUVs earlier this year, with additional features being offered on lower or mid-spec variants.
Citroen are yet to confirm the name, pricing or exact changes associated with the latest teaser.
The “value for money” message suggests that Citroen could focus on adding more features without significantly increasing the prices of the updated variants.
The company followed a similar approach with the Comfort Editions launched earlier this year. The Aircross Comfort Edition added beige upholstery and adjustable front and rear headrests, while the Basalt X Comfort Edition brought additional comfort and technology features through Citroen’s accessory packs.
Depending on the variants selected, the Basalt X Comfort Edition could be equipped with features such as:
The Aircross Comfort Edition, meanwhile, added beige upholstery and adjustable headrests, with Citroen also offering separate accessory packs to add features such as a larger touchscreen, wireless charging, a rearview camera and a JBL audio system.
The upcoming editions could therefore bring a more comprehensive feature package to the lower variants, although the exact equipment list remains unknown.
Another possibility is that Citroen could introduce new regular variants rather than limited-run special editions.
The company has been using feature additions and accessory packs to improve the value proposition of its SUVs. A new variant could allow Citroen to package some of these features directly into the vehicle while creating a clearer gap between the different trims.
However, the teaser does not provide enough information to determine whether Citroen are preparing new variants, special editions or another version of the Comfort Edition concept.
There is currently no indication that the upcoming update will bring any mechanical changes.
The Aircross and Basalt X are currently offered with Citroen’s 1.2L normal petrol and 1.2L turbo petrol engines. The normal petrol engine produces 82PS and 115Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The turbo-petrol engine produces 110PS, with torque output of 190Nm with the 6-speed manual and 205Nm with the 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Citroen have not announced a launch date or revealed what the latest teaser represents. The company’s “Value For Money Like You’ve Never Seen Before” messaging, however, strongly suggests that the upcoming update will focus on improving the feature-to-price ratio of the 2 SUVs.
Considering the Aircross and Basalt X Comfort Editions were introduced earlier this year, the latest editions could represent another attempt by Citroen to make the SUVs more attractive to buyers without making major changes to their underlying mechanical package.
We expect more details, including the variant names, features and prices, to be revealed soon.
