Citroen revealed their made-for-India coupe SUV, the Basalt, on March 28, 2024. A week later, a pre-production test mule of the 2024 Citroen Basalt was spied on the streets of Chennai. The latest spy shots reveal the dashboard and a few features of the upcoming Tata Curvv-rivaling coupe SUV.

Citroen Basalt Interior And Features Spied

The latest spy shots of the Citroen Basalt reveal the coupe SUV’s cabin. Right off the bat, we can confirm the Basalt will feature the same dashboard and feature list as the C3 Aircross C-segment SUV.

The spy shots show details such as the 10.23-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch digital driver’s display, AC knobs with a satin chrome finish, and manual day/night inside rearview mirror (IRVM). Like the C3 Aircross, the Basalt is not likely to feature automatic climate control. It is also likely to miss out on features like cruise control and keyless entry.

Citroen Basalt Exterior Design

The pre-production test mule of the Citroen Basalt 2024 was spotted wearing heavy camouflage. Only the rear end of the coupe SUV was captured on camera. Based on the spy shots, we expect the production-spec Basalt to come with a high-set boot lid flanked by LED tail lamps that get a new lighting signature over the C3 Aircross. The production-spec Basalt will measure 4.3 metres in length, just like the C3 Aircross, and will feature black cladding all around.

Expected Powertrain Options

Although Citroen haven’t revealed the powertrain specifications of the 2024 Basalt, we expect it to feature the same engine and transmission as the C3 Aircross. So expect the Basalt to launch with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 110PS of powr and 190Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Citroen have confirmed they are working on an automatic transmission for the C3 Aircross, so we can expect this new transmission to find its way into the Basalt as well. We also expect Citroen to launch the Basalt EV to rival the Tata Curvv EV sometime in early 2025. Citroen plan to reveal more information about the Basalt by the middle of 2024, so stay tuned for more details.
