Citroen C3 India Launch Likely In June | V3Cars

Citroen revealed the India-bound C3 during a virtual global event last year. As per the latest reports, Citroen India are likely to launch the C3 cross-hatch in June 2022. It is worth mentioning that the India-bound C3 doesn’t have anything in common with the global C3 hatchback. The upcoming Citroen C3 will rival the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Tiago NRG and Mahindra KUV100.

When launched, the Citroen C3 will become the second product from the French carmaker in the Indian market. The first was the C5 Aircross, which is currently on sale as a CKD offering. The C3, on the other hand, enjoys a high degree of localisation with its powertrain, underpinnings and equipment.

In terms of styling, the Citroen C3 carves a space for itself by being a cross between a hatchback and an SUV. Hence, Citroen like to call the C3 a ‘hatchback with a twist’. At the front, the C3 gets a split headlight setup with LED DRLs that merges with the grille. The lower part of the bumper gets a faux skid plate and round fog lights. At the side, the C3 gets fender-mounted turn indicators and styled steel wheels, which are an indicator of its low cost and functional design. At the rear, the C3 gets faux skid plates and LED taillights.

On the inside, the C3 gets a quirky and utilitarian design for the dashboard. A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay dominates the dashboard. Other features include a mobile holder, steering-mounted controls, manual air conditioning, a digital instrument cluster, rear power windows and manually-adjustable ORVMs.

Citroen are yet to provide any information about the C3’s powertrain options for India. Rumours suggest the C3 will be offered with a 1.2L normal petrol engine with both manual and automatic options. The global-spec C3 is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. Both the engine and transmission options of the C3 are likely to be heavily localised to keep prices competitive. Citroen will launch the C3 in June and we expect bookings to commence soon.
