In this December 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all MPVs in India. Where applicable, we’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all MPVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.
MPV Segment December 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change

Top Gainers (YoY):
- Toyota Innova Crysta/HyCross (D1 - MPV): The Toyota Innova Crysta/HyCross experienced an exceptional Year-on-Year (YoY) growth of 21,655.56%, with sales skyrocketing from 36 units in December 2022 to 7,832 units in December 2023. This substantial increase suggests a significant boost in demand, potentially attributed to factors like product enhancements, marketing strategies, or changes in consumer preferences favoring MPVs.
- Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (C1 - MPV): Ertiga, a popular MPV from Maruti Suzuki, showed a positive YoY change of 5.72%. Sales increased from 12,273 units in December 2022 to 12,975 units in December 2023. Ertiga's continued success in the MPV segment could be attributed to its features, fuel efficiency, and brand reputation.

Top Losers (YoY):
- Renault Triber (B2 - MPV): The Renault Triber experienced a significant YoY decline of -69.77%, with sales dropping from 2,203 units in December 2022 to 666 units in December 2023. The reasons for this decline could include increased competition, changing market dynamics, or specific challenges faced by the model in the MPV segment.
- Maruti Nexa XL6 (C2 - MPV): The Maruti Nexa XL6 reported a YoY decrease of -33.83%, with sales declining from 3,364 units in December 2022 to 2,226 units in December 2023. The decrease may be influenced by factors such as evolving consumer preferences or intensified competition in the MPV category.
- Kia Carens (C2 - MPV): Kia Carens showed a YoY decline of -19.78%, with sales decreasing from 3,195 units in December 2022 to 2,563 units in December 2023. Factors contributing to this decline could include market competition, supply chain challenges, or changes in consumer demand for MPVs.

- Toyota Rumion (D1 - MPV): The Toyota Rumion experienced a MoM growth of 16.02%, with sales rising from 718 units in November 2023 to 833 units in December 2023.
- Maruti Suzuki Invicto (D1 - MPV): The Maruti Suzuki Invicto showed a MoM increase of 6.81%, with sales going up from 470 units in November 2023 to 502 units in December 2023.

- Kia Carens (C2 - MPV): The Kia Carens reported a significant MoM decline of -44.52%, with sales dropping from 4,620 units in November 2023 to 2,563 units in December 2023.
- Maruti Nexa XL6 (C2 - MPV): The Maruti Nexa XL6 experienced a MoM decrease of -35.89%, with sales declining from 3,472 units in November 2023 to 2,226 units in December 2023.
- Renault Triber (B2 - MPV): The Renault Triber reported a MoM decrease of -49.24%, with sales decreasing from 1,312 units in November 2023 to 666 units in December 2023.
