In this February 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all SUVs in India. We’ll also share our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.
SUV Segment February 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- Among the SUVs, the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Creta were the top 2 performers in January, whereas in February, Brezza took over the top spot and replaced Nexon with about 16,000 units dispatched, which translates to a YoY gain of over 70%.
- Amongst the mass-market cars in the category, Scorpio pair was the best gainer in YoY comparison in February with 166% gains.
- 4 SUVs made it into the 5-figure club in February - Brezza, Nexon, Punch and Creta.
- Among the notable top losers were Astor, Safari and Harrier with 55%, 35% and 21.5% YoY decline, respectively.

SUV Segment February 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- Renault Kiger was the top gaining mass market SUV with just over 56% MoM rise in February comparison analysis
- Harrier was the second top MoM gainer in February 2023 MoM analysis, with an improvement of 30.66% over its January sales figures
- Amongst the mass-market losers, Creta was the top loser with 31% MoM decline, followed by XUV300 with 29% decline in MoM numbers in February comparison
