    Ford EcoSport Facelift preparing to launch in India debuting Dragon series 1.5L petrol mill

    The 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift model has been long awaited in India and several reports have been telling about its imminent launch in India. While according to the recent speculations, the EcoSport was all set to launch in India during this year’s festive season, there are yet no confirmation regarding its exact market launch in this country. Hence, there’s good amount of doubt about the updated EcoSport hitting the Indian market before Diwali, and it will probably launch later this year. What is confirmed though is that the subcompact SUV’s refreshed avatar will launch in our market within this year.

    Ford India is expected to commence the bookings for the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift sometime around Diwali time. Some of the Ford dealers have confirmed the same to the media. The new 2017 updated Ford EcoSport will be coming with a host of cosmetic updates, an array of features, improved technology and a new petrol engine from Ford’s new Dragon engine family.

    The 2017 updated Ford EcoSport had its world premiere at the 2017 LA Auto Show early this year. The American auto major introduced the EcoSport for the first time to the U.S car market. The company also announced its plans to export made in India Ford EcoSport to the car market of US. In India the Ford EcoSport has been around for quite long. It has been one of the pioneering subcompact SUV model in India and has been very successful.

    The India-spec as well as the global version of the Ford EcoSport facelift has been frequently getting spied while testing on the Indian roads. Most recently, last month, when the car was seen without any camouflage, revealing the new exterior design and styling of the 2017 EcoSport facelift.

     

    The updated EcoSport gets an array of cosmetic changes. It gets a fully updated new front fascia with a new more aggressive looking front grille with chrome inserts, restyled projector headlights, newly styled beefier front bumper and new angular fog lights. The side profile of the updated subcompact SUV remains mostly unchanged, excepting the newly styled alloy wheels. The rear design also gets only mildly refreshed tail lights and a new cover for the tailgate mounted spear wheel along with some other small changes.

    On the inside, the Ford EcoSport facelift will boast of a good amount of updates as well. The most noteworthy updates include a new display for the touchscreen infotainment system, Ford's new SYNC 3 in-car connectivity system along with expected Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, new upholstery, smart keyless entry and more.

     

    Ford has already unveiled the newly developed 3-cylinder 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol engine from the Dragon engine series at the company’s Sanand facility in Gujarat. This new Dragon petrol engine will be debuting in India under the hood of the updated EcoSport. The new 1.5L petrol mill can generate a max 120 bhp of power and 150 Nm of top torque and will be mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and a 6 speed automatic transmission option.

    The updated EcoSport facelift will also expected to continue to offer the options of the existing 123 bhp 1L EcoBoost petrol mill and the 99 bhp 1.5L TDCi diesel unit.
