American auto major, Ford is all set to launch its all-new Freestyle CUV in the car market of India on 18th of April, 2018. Recently, the authorized Ford dealerships had started accepting bookings for the new upcoming car. The new Ford Freestyle is a cross-hatchback which is based on the Ford Figo hatchback, but Ford India prefers to call it a CUV (compact utility vehicle).
Just prior to the official Indian market launch of the Freestyle, Ford has also associated with e-commerce giant Amazon.in to offer the customers the convenience of pre-booking 100 units of the new Ford Freestyle on the website on 14th April, 2018 from 2pm onwards. As part of this Ford Freestyle promotional offer, the interested customers can book a unit of the Freestyle by paying a token amount of just Rs. 10,000, which can be paid through the certified payment modes on Amazon India’s website.
The Ford Freestyle comes with a bold and attractive exterior styling which is very typical to the hatchback turned crossovers. The Freestyle’s cosmetic changes to mark it apart from its hatchback sibling include a newly styled bonnet, a new grille, skid plate, new alloy wheels and blacked-out headlights. Other styling changes include metallic roof rails, body cladding and larger and wider 185/60 R15 tyres, all of which add to the proper crossover looks of the Ford Freestyle.
The new Freestyle is being offered with 6 monotone colour options to choose from, namely – Absolute Black, Oxford White, Smoke Grey, Canyon Ridge, Moondust Silver and White Gold. As part of additional accessories a different roof wrap and body strip are there on offer as well.
In order to make the Freestyle offer a proper crossover look and feel apart from endowing the Freestyle with additional 15 mm ground clearance as compared against the Figo, there is also a unique steering system and suspension set-up.
Under the hood, the new Ford Freestyle comes packed with a new 1.2 litre petrol mill from the company’s Dragon series of petrol engines. This petrol mill can generate a max power of 96 hp at 6,500 rpm and a top torque of 120 Nm at 4,250 rpm. Ford claims that it can offer a fuel efficiency of 19kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel version of the crosshatch is powered by a 1.5 litre oil burner that delivers 100 hp at 3,750 rpm along with 215 Nm in the range of 1,750-3,000 rpm. The diesel version offers a fuel efficiency of 24.4kmpl. Both the engines come paired with a standard 5 speed manual transmission, while the petrol version will get an automatic transmission option, later.
The Ford Freestyle is available to order in its four trim levels namely – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+. The American car major has also packed in the Freestyle with nice safety equipments, which includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, three-point rear seat belts, reverse parking sensors and rear fog lamps all as part of the car’s standard safety system, and even the base model Ambiente offers these.
