American auto giant Ford has recently announced a vehicle recall in India. Ford India has voluntarily recalled 5,397 units of the very popular Ford EcoSport subcompact SUV model. The reason behind this recall is to inspect and fix some potentially faulty car components.

The statement further explained that the weld strength on some of these units of the EcoSport could be below the Ford quality standards. This in rare cases can potentially affect steering control.
In addition to the above mentioned 4,379 units of the EcoSport, Ford India is also recalling 1,018 units of the subcompact SUV in order to inspect the driver and front passenger seat recliner locks. Ford said that the company is personally intimating with the owners of these vehicle by writing to them. These 1,018 EcoSport models that have been affected by the recall have been manufactured between the time period of November 2017 and December 2017.

Like all voluntary recalls, the recalled Ford EcoSport models will also be inspected and rectified if necessary, fully free of cost.
Voluntary vehicle recall is a part of the automakers’ general practice to ensure the safety and security of their customers. Vehicle recalls used to be a shameful event earlier, but not anymore, unless a particular car maker is announcing a series of recalls due to serious malfunctioning auto parts. Car recalls don’t really damage the reputation of an auto manufacturer, as it is their responsibility to voluntarily recall and fix the issues when they doubt anything before the car owners suffer some safety and security issues. Ever since the Indian government passed the vehicle safety policy, car manufacturers have been routinely recalling their vehicles, whenever they detected any possible issue. Ford India is also not an exception in this and has recalled its vehicles quite a few times.
