Fourth-Gen Skoda Octavia Launch Confirmed For April 2021 | V3Cars
Just as we were ogling the images of the recently unveiled Skoda Kushaq, Skoda has confirmed that it will launch the next-gen Octavia in April 2021. Confirming the news, Zac Hollis, Director ŠKODA AUTO India tweeted,“ For all those Octavia fans out there. We plan to launch the all-new Octavia at the end of next month, with deliveries starting from end of May.”
The next-gen Octavia looks sportier and more aggressive than its predecessor. It features the latest iteration of Skoda’s butterfly grille with a thick chrome surround flanked by new single-piece sleek LED headlamps. The bumper is also new with sleek fog lamps connected by a chrome element running across the width.
The Octavia’s side profile looks aggressive with a sharp shoulder line running across the length of the sedan and a coupe-like sloping roofline. Coming to the rear, it gets sleek tail lamps flanking the Skoda lettering in the centre of the boot lid.
In terms of dimensions, the fourth-gen Octavia is longer and wider than its predecessor. Here is a comparison:

On the inside, the Octavia will get a redesigned cabin finished in black-beige upholstery which looks more premium than before. The layout is likely to be similar to the recently unveiled Kushaq. Features on offer should include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a freestanding large touchscreen infotainment system, multiple airbags, dual-zone AC, panoramic sunroof, front and rear parking sensors and connected car tech.
Under the hood, the new Octavia will be powered by the same 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine that powers various other VW group cars like the Skoda Superb, VW Tiguan Allspace and Audi A4 facelift. It makes 190PS and 320Nm paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Skoda might also offer a smaller 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine on the new Octavia. It makes 150PS and 250Nm paired to either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DSG.
Deliveries of the new Octavia will get underway from the end of May 2021. Prices are expected to range from Rs 18 lakh to Rs 26 lakh. It will take on the Hyundai Elantra which retails from Rs 17.83 lakh to 21.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Skoda currently offers the previous-gen Octavia RS 245 in India which is priced at Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom India).
