We have a name for Hyundai's upcoming sub-4m sedan - Hyundai Aura. The sedan is based on the Grand i10 Nios. A few months back, Aura was spotted during road tests wearing heavy camouflage. We can expect the car to go on sale in the next one or two months.
Technically, the Nios is the newer generation Grand i10 but Hyundai continues to sell the two cars. The Nios is a new car so you don't get discounts but the Grand i10 is available with heavy discounts. Similarly, with the launch of the Aura, the Xcent may carry on with discounts.
It’s unclear whether and for how long Hyundai will continue to keep the Grand i10 and the Xcent on sale after the launch of the Aura sedan. The Nios and Aura are just better versions of the Grand i10 and Xcent. They get better features, more space and better styling - for the most part.
The engine adn transmission options for the Hyundai Aura will be the same as the Grand i10 Nios. It’ll get a 1.2-litre petrol engine but whether the 1.2-litre diesel engine makes the cut or not is not clear. Regardless, a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT automatic will be available.
Expect the Aura to have features like wireless phone charging, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, Android Auto and Apple Carplay, rear AC vents, rear armrest, LED projector headlamps, keyless entry, push-button start, power mirrors and a cooled glovebox.
