Scoop: New Matte Grey Colour Option For Hyundai i20; Era Base Model Likely To Return | V3Cars
We have recently learned that the Hyundai i20 is now also available with a new matte grey colour option. Hyundai’s official India website confirms this on the i20 exterior page as well as the i20’s updated brochure.
While the i20’s official web page on Hyundai India’s website continues to display the Era as their base variant, we know that they had actually discontinued this base model with the GST revision. Their price section on their official website does not list the Era variant’s ex-showroom price. However, the leaked document suggests that the i20 Era trim may return to help the car offer a lower starting price and thus become affordable to a larger number of car buyers.

Before the GST price revision, the Era variant was available with an ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.04 lakh. After the GST rate cut, the Magna Executive petrol-manual became the most affordable variant in the i20 lineup with an ex-showroom price of Rs. 6.86 lakh. In Jan 2026, Hyundai again gave the i20 a minor price hike resulting in the ex-showroom prices going up by up to Rs. 7,435.

If the Era once again goes on sale, we expect it to cost between Rs. 6.45 and Rs. 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The i20’s closest rivals are the Tata Altroz and Maruti Baleno. The Altroz has a starting price of Rs. 6.30 lakh while the Baleno is even more affordable with a starting price of Rs. 5.99 lakh (ex-sh).
